THE number of new homes delivered over the most recent three-month period is well below the council’s target.
From July to September, a total of 152 new homes were built.
This is lower from the figure of 154 from April to June.
It’s well below the council’s target of 225.
A report states: “The decline in net completions is due in part to national conditions deriving from inflation and mortgage conditions.
“This has seen some stability in recent months with interest rates slowly declining.
“The change in government over the summer of 2024 and changes to the planning system, may result in a more buoyant economy moving forwards, translating to additional housing.
“This remains one the council’s key objectives and proposed changes have been fed in at a national level.
“The Local Plan identifies sufficient land over the plan period and the council is committed to ensuring that good quality development is delivered without delay.”
