OVER 1,000 have been remembered as part of Barnsley Hospice’s Light up a Life campaign so far.
This weekend two services were held and a hospice spokesperson said: “Our weekend of Light up a Life services has come to an end, and what a spectacular couple of days it has been. It is always heartwarming to see so many members of our local community joining together to remember their loved ones, and we want to say a huge thank you to everyone who attended.
“Over 1,000 people have been remembered as part of this year’s Light up a Life campaign so far, and the lights representing them will shine brightly on the trees outside the hospice and at St Mary’s Church until Twelfth Night.
“The names of each dedication are available to view in the online Book of Remembrance, which is now live on our website (www.barnsleyhospice.org/LUAL). You can share the link with family and friends, and view the book from the comfort of your own home over the festive period. We will add any new dedications made each Friday until Twelfth Night.
“We look forward to thanking everyone involved in the services and sharing more photos in the coming days, but for now, we want to say a big thank you to: The Mayor of Barnsley, Councillor John Clarke, our patron, Dan Jarvis MP, the wonderful musicians, Carlton Main Frickley Colliery Band and South Yorkshire Police Band, the fantastic singers Izzy Watson and Lily Banton, St Mary’s Church, Barnsley Hospice staff and volunteers and our main Light up a Life sponsor, Booker Commercial “
Although the services are over for this year, you can still take part in this year’s Light up a Life campaign by dedicating a light and making a donation toward the vital care offered by Barnsley Hospice: www.barnsleyhospice.org/LUAL
