ELDERLY residents whose living complex was targeted by vandals have been assured their safety is a top priority.
Maltas Court, Worsbrough, was significantly damaged during an incident last week and Berneslai Homes – which manages the 29-home facility – opted to close the building.
Councillor Jake Lodge, who represents the Worsbrough ward, said: “Maltas Court was targeted by vandals who broke in – they damaged the building and furniture.
“I’m working to get a meeting in place with our neighbourhood wardens for residents to raise their concerns and look at ways in which we can stop this vandalism going forward.
“I’m also encouraging anybody with information to report it to South Yorkshire Police.”
Dave Fullen, executive director of customer and estate services at Berneslai Homes, confirmed the incident occurred.
“There was an incident at Maltas Court in the last week but keeping residents safe and secure is our number one priority, so we temporarily closed the building whilst the damage was cleaned up and the building was made safe.”
