HOYLAND Community Fridge has appealed for help to buy a vital piece of equipment.

The group’s commercial fridge has broken and they have launched a fundraising appeal to buy a new one.

It’s based at The Cabin in Hoyland and founder Julie Carr says on the appeal page:

“We have a dedicated team of volunteers who help to run the cabin, using their own cars and fuel, collecting food donations late into the night.

“Sadly our commercial fridge needs replacing very quickly, we do not have the funding to purchase a new one.

“If you could help us purchase a new fridge, you would be helping the local community who need and love this much loved community fridge.

“Thank you so much, your support means the world.”

A community fridge saves good food from landfill, donated by major supermarkets and local food retailers.

“We are independantly funded, relying on grants and donations for us to pay our overheads.

“Over 300 members of the community visit our community fridge, all helping to save good food from landfill, filling fridges, plates and bellies."
