CHILDHOOD cancer cases have been highlighted by a local MP.

Stephanie Peacock, who represents Barnsley South, spoke out for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, which takes place throughout September.

Every year, over 1,800 children under the age of 15 are diagnosed with cancer in the UK.

The month aims to raise awareness of the needs and experiences of children with cancer, and the services that are available for young people with the condition.

Stephanie said: “I am pleased to lend my support to Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, which is taking place throughout September.

“Receiving a cancer diagnosis as a child or young person can be really difficult.

“I know that our brilliant NHS do a great job of treating the illness and supporting patients as best they can.

“However, if you have been diagnosed with cancer and are living in Barnsley, you might feel like you need some extra support.

“Young Lives vs Cancer can offer advice, support, or even just listen if that is what you need.”
