A LOCAL Post Office is set to close and could move into a nearby convenience store.
Bosses have said that the current postmaster at the unit on Market Street in Goldthorpe has resigned and the premises are set to be withdrawn for use.
Instead, a new service could launch at the Best Store on Doncaster Road.
It would open for 97 hours a week – 73 hours more than the current service.
There would be two serving positions at the retail counter of the store, and time-restricted parking outside, including disabled parking.
It said the new facility would not offer on-demand travel insurance, vehicle tax or the Passport Check and Send service.
A public consultation on the plans ends at the end of February.
