VOLUNTEERS’ efforts to spruce up their local parks have been praised by an MP.

Stephanie Peacock, who represents Barnsley South, commented on Love Parks Week which aims to encourage communities to get out and about, using their local parks and open spaces.

In Barnsley, there are many parks and open spaces, totalling 450 miles of public rights of way in the area.

Stephanie said: “I was pleased to visit Wombwell Park over the weekend.

“Thank you to all the park keepers, organisations and staff who work hard to keep our parks in great condition throughout the year.”
