DEVELOPERS aiming to build 45 new homes in Staincross have been told to put down their tools by Barnsley Council following complaints from residents.
RMH Properties have submitted a planning application to the council to build properties on Paddock Road.
The plans, which were submitted in September 2022, have not yet been approved by the council.
Despite this, it’s understood that work took place on the site – prompting frustrated residents of the area to contact the council.
It has now been confirmed that council bosses have stopped the work – and the site will not be touched until planning permission has been granted.
Kathy McArdle, service director for regeneration and culture, said: “We received complaints from residents that work had begun on the site which was in breach of pre-commencement planning conditions as planning permission has not yet been granted.
“We have contacted the developer and their agent, who have confirmed no further works will occur until the legal agreement is signed and the conditions for planning permission to be granted are met.”
