A TEAM of paddlers spent their Saturday afternoon cleaning up Manvers Lake earlier this month.
The group of eight managed to removed a total of 37 bags of plastic pollution and junk from the area.
The rubbish included plastic water bottles, drinks cans and fast-food packaging, along with some rather unusual items including underwear and odd socks.
Bosses have urged locals to protect their waterways and to be considerate and not dump items in the river.
Yvonne Merrills-White, paddle sport co-ordinator at Manvers Waterfront Boat Club, said: “We have a fantastic group of people at the club from our local community and further afield who always go the extra mile.
“The efforts involved in hot temperatures was second to none.
“Manvers Lake means a lot to so many people and it’s great to see them benefiting from the facility and taking pride of it.”
