BARNSLEY will celebrate Armed Forces Day on Saturday - with a variety of events taking place in the town centre.
With events taking place in the Glass Works Square, Mandela Gardens and throughout the town centre - and the army, Navy, Royal Air Force, Sea Cadets, Air Cadets, Penistone CIC and more in attendance - it promises to be an action-packed day of fun and celebration.
The day will begin with the Armed Forces Parade, which will start at Barnsley Town Hall at 10am.
A host of military personnel will parade through the town centre, accompanied by the Regiment Brass Band, eventually finishing in the square where the band will continue their performance.
The area will be full of a range of fun activities, genuine and replica military equipment and vehicles, and information stands, all provided by Barnsley’s range of armed forces and emergency personnel.
Veterans are also invited to a special ‘Veterans Breakfast’ from 8.30am to 9.30am in Market Kitchen where tea, coffee and breakfast sandwiches will be provided.
From here those involved in the parade can make their way to the town hall.
