POLICE in Barnsley are appealing for information after a reported race hate public order offence in the town centre last month.
It’s reported that on October 24, at around 7.10am, on the junction between New Street and Albert Street a man approached a victim and then racially abused them before threatening them.
Police have now released CCTV footage of the man they would like to speak to in relation to the event.
A spokesperson added: “Another member of the public shouted at the suspect who made off in the direction of McDonald’s on Upper New Street.
“As the suspect made off he continued to shout racist abuse and make threats.
“A man officers want to speak to in connection with the incident is described as black, 35 years old, of a slim build and 5ft 7in tall.
“He had black hair and a goatee-type beard.
“Do you recognise the man pictured?
“If so call police on 101 quoting crime reference 14/164441/21.”
