IT'S voting day!
Polling stations across the borough opened their doors at 7am and will be open until 10pm for anyone who wishes to cast a vote.
These elections are to decide your local councillors who will represent your ward.
Due to the current pandemic, council bosses have urged residents to wear a face covering (unless you are medically exempt) and to bring your own pen to reduce the risk of transmission.
You will also need your polling card, otherwise you won't be able to vote.
If you become unwell, or are self-isolating as a result of Covid-19 today you will be able to apply for an emergency proxy up until 5pm today. This means that someone will be able to vote on your behalf.
If you would like to do this, phone the Barnsley Council Electoral Services team on 773070.
