A YOUNG carer from Barnsley and last year's WellChild Award winner is calling for nominations for next year's awards.
William Jones, 17, of Furlong Road, Bolton-upon-Dearne won the WellChild award last year in recognition of caring for his younger brother, James.
James was born with complex medical needs and needs to spend a large amount of time in hospital.
William trained to nurse his younger brother so that he could help his mum, Michelle to care for James.
He was awarded the most caring award last year at a ceremony held at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London where he had the chance to speak to the WellChild patrons, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the WellChild awards for 2020 have been postponed but nominations for the awards next year are open.
“Will had such a fantastic evening at the WellChild Awards in London” said Michelle Jones. “It was such a great experience for us all to be involved in and something we will never forget.
“It would be terrific for another child or professional from Yorkshire to be a winner.”
