POLICE and staff from partner agencies will be out across Barnsley today tackling the issues that matter to residents.

Operation Duxford aims to improve links with the local community, identify and tackle criminal activity, and protect vulnerable people living in communities affected by crime.

They will be responding directly to concerns raised by members of the community, including the use of drugs, antisocial behaviour and off-road bikes.

Officers will be working to clamp down on these particular issues. They will also carry out intelligence led stop and searches and mounted officers will be in the town centre, along with visible support from other agencies.

District Commander for Barnsley, Chief Superintendent Scott Green, said: “Teams of detectives have already been carrying out intelligence-led warrants across the district early this morning, which will no doubt yield positive results throughout the day."
