LOCALS are being encouraged to help name the new central library.
The £5.3m community space is set to be the cornerstone of the town centre redevelopments when it opens in 2018.
To get local views on what the building should be named, Barnsley Council is running a competition until July 17 to name the building.
Residents will be able to vote for their favourite from four names; The Lightbox, The Beacon, The Lightworks and The Meeting Place.
People can cast their vote by visiting the Barnsley Council or Barnsley Library Facebook and Twitter pages for interactive polls. They can also vote in person by visiting their local library, the Town Hall, the Better Barnsley Shop or on the website.
