BARNSLEY'S first food festival is set to take place next week at the old open market space in the town centre.
The Love Your Local Market Food Festival, which takes place from Wednesday, September 16 to Saturday, September 19, has been organised by Barnsley Council.
Some of the exciting food on offer will include, exotic meats, wood fired pizza, Malaysian curry, fancy fries, Caribbean jerk BBQ, Portuguese cuisine, slow roast pork, buffalo burgers and Yorkshire ice cream.
An outdoor kitchen will feature daily demonstrations from local culinary talent, including chefs from 8oz Burger, Oak Star Café and Brasserie, Munjacks, rif Ice Cream and local Come Dine With Me runner-up, Wayne Johnson.
To provide entertainment, travelling trios of comedic characters, including dinner ladies, dumb waiters and overzealous health and safety officers, will roam around and interact with visitors.
