A DAD-TO-BE turned to growing cannabis to ease his family's financial troubles.
Dale Smales, 34, set up a cannabis farm at his home on Dearne Road, Bolton-on-Dearne, Sheffield Crown Court was told.
The set up could have yielded up to £15,300 on the streets.
Police found hydroponic growing equipment, a lighting system and blackened windows, said Andrew Bailey, prosecuting.
As well as finding dried cannabis, 17 empty plant pots and plant food, a ‘How to Grow Marijuana’ book was also uncovered.
Paul O’Shea, defending, said Smales and his partner were expecting a child and there were serious financial pressures on him.
Smales was jailed for 16 months.
