POLICE have issued a statement following the closure of Westway early this morning.
Officers say that they were called to reports of concern for a woman’s safety early this morning.
A police spokesperson said: “We were called at 3.40am today (Monday March 3) to reports of concern for the safety of a woman on Wellington Street.
“Emergency services attended and the woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries that are not thought to be life-threatening.”
The road was closed for several hours but has since reopened.
