MORE than 1,400 residents who have failed to pay their council tax have been handed £80 fines.
Barnsley Council pursued a total of 1,656 non-paying residents at a hearing held at Barnsley Magistrates’ Court last week.
A total of 1,404 liability orders were made and 116 were withdrawn.
The remaining accounts were paid prior to the hearing.
