WOMBWELL councillors joined an annual ‘winter wellbeing’ event to help provide support to residents during the colder end-of-year months.

The three councillors - Brenda Eastwood, Robert Frost and James Higginbottom - joined council services, partner organisations and voluntary groups at the event at Wombwell Library.

Visiting residents enjoyed hot food and drinks, collected winter warmth packs provided by the South Area Council and access advice and support from a wide range of organisations, including local charities, Berneslai Homes and South Yorkshire Police.

There were also free slippers available to those at risk of slips, trips and falls and the NHS were on hand to provide Covid and flu vaccines for those who qualified.

A joint statement said: “We were really pleased to come along and support the winter wellbeing event.

“It was fantastic to see so many local partners and organisations coming together to support Wombwell residents this winter.

“We would like to say a big thanks to all the service who attended and hope that residents found the event to be useful.”
