BARNSLEY’s winners in this year's Yorkshire in Bloom Awards have been revealed with the borough excelling once again.

Overall, 16 awards were given out to parks, gardens, allotments and green spaces across the borough following judging earlier in the summer.

Barnsley’s winners in full were:

  • Goldthorpe Railway Embankment – Parks, Gardens & Open Spaces - Platinum

  • Royston Canal Club – Parks, Gardens, & Open Spaces - Platinum

  • 2024 Yorkshire Rose Discretionary Award for Best Conservation Project - Carlton Marsh Nature Reserve

  • RHS 60yrs of Blooming Friendships - 60th Somthings Recognition - Owd Marthas Yard

  • 2024 Parks Services Volunteer Support Award - Nelly at Barnsley Hospice

  • 2024 Parks Services Volunteer/ Community Group Award - Friends of Elsecar Park to mark their 20th anniversary

  • 2024 Parks Services Community Champion Award - Pauline Phillips for Thurnscoe Flower Park

Coun James Higginbottom, Cabinet Spokesperson Environment and Highways said: “It’s amazing to see yet another fantastic result for groups around the borough in the Yorkshire in Bloom awards.

“We are all incredibly proud to have an army of volunteers across Barnsley who work tirelessly all year to keep our borough clean and green and to make sure our parks, gardens and green spaces are always looking their best.

“I would like to congratulate everyone who took part in the judging process and all of our award winners. The number of winners is a testament to hard work of volunteers, community groups and our own Parks team and its great to see them all recognised in the awards.”

This year marked the 60th anniversary of the In Bloom awards.
