FRIENDS and family of a former Barnsley FC player will pay tribute to him at his funeral on Monday.
Roy Stuart McCarthy played for the Reds in 1962, with a debut match against Portsmouth on January 20, though his time with the team was short lived as he transferred to Barrow and later played for Southport and Weymouth.
After a battle with cancer, Roy passed away last month at 79 years old.
He will be remembered at his funeral in Darton Church.
