AN annual festival will return to help promote creativity in the community.

The Dearne Community Arts’ Festival will take place on Saturday September 28 between 11am and 4pm at Astrea Academy Dearne in Goldthorpe.

Funded by players of the People’s Postcode Lottery, Dearne South Ward Alliance, Better Barnsley Bond and Barnsley Museums, the free to attend festival aims to champion creativity while celebrating the Dearne Valley community.

Visitors will be able to enjoy exhibitions, workshops, demonstrations and performances all on their doorstep, as local talent gets the opportunity to perform and show off their talents.

Festival secretary, Julie Turner, said: “We really encourage you to have a go at something you’ve never done before

“Join AmazeLab to explore the science of chromatography as you make butterflies to take home or learn from street artist Eye Violet about spray painting.

“There really is something for everyone.”
