BARNSLEY Council has made an appeal to local clubs who use their pitches.
A spokesperson said: “Our pitches need pre-season too and we are currently in the process of completing renovations across the borough ahead of the new football season.
“During this time, we kindly ask that clubs don’t arrange friendlies, cup games, or training sessions on leased pitches until mid-August to allow our renovation works to be undertaken and grass regrowth.”
Once the renovations have been completed, it will ensure that the pitches are playable for the start of the new season.
