A 24-YEAR-OLD actor who’s perfected the role of the dame in two previous pantomimes is now taking over the directing chair.

Archie Ford – who played the dame at Staincross-based St John’s two previous community pantos – is now directing the comedy Volunteers for its amateur theatre group.

The play, which is set in a charity shop, follows the trials and tribulations of the titular volunteers as an ageist CEO takes charge.

Thankfully for Archie, theatre runs in the family, and he will be working with his mum Carrie who’s also part of the St John’s team.

Archie said: “I’m really enjoying my role for this entertaining play.

“It allows me to use my acting knowledge to bring out the best in everyone.

“Perhaps the best part of directing is telling mum what to do.”
