THE funeral proceeds of a lifelong Barnsley FC fan have been donated to the club’s charity arm.
Richard Holdsworth, born in October 1944, was a season ticket holder for many years, travelling up from the Midlands. He died last month, and the funds raised from his funeral will be given to the Barnsley FC Community Trust.
A spokesperson said: “He grew up in the Barnsley area and went on to a career in education as a teacher, principal and union representative.
"He was dedicated to community education, opportunity for all and passionate about sport and the Reds.
"The family are very pleased to be able to make this donation to Barnsley FC Community Trust in his memory.
"All at Barnsley FC Community Trust would like to thank Richard’s family for their generous donation and extend our condolences at this time.”
