A COMMUNITY day will be held in Honeywell next week for residents to talk about local concerns and there's plenty on offer to keep the kids occupied during half term too.
South Yorkshire Police and Barnsley Council are organising the event on Thursday from 11am-3pm on the fields off Hartington Drive near the Fleets fishing pond.
This event is free to attend and everyone is welcome to go down and see what support and groups are out there for the community to engage in.
There will be a bouncy castle, ice cream van, fun and games with Barnsley FC Community Trust penalty shoot out with prizes, The Army have their air soft range, Air Ambulance simulator, fire engine and, CCTV van exhibition.
Food and refreshment will be available, and there will be the chance to win prizes.
South Yorkshire Police officers will be on hand to talk about any local concerns and share crime reduction advice, alongside partners including: Barnsley Council, South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue, BIADS Dementia support, Safer Roads Partnership, Barnsley FC Community Trust, Crimestoppers, Andy’s Mans Club men’s mental health, T/Army with air soft and careers advice, Victim/witness support, Safer Neighbourhood Warden Team, YMCA, Game Changers, Berneslai Homes, Victim Support, Barnsley Canal Groups, South Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Barnsley CCTV wardens, BIFFA, Barnsley College Public Services, Yorkshire Smokefree Barnsley, Salvation Army, Ambition coaches offering free courses and CV help and guidance for over 16s.
A police spokesman said: “There will be something for everyone, and activities for people of all ages including the opportunity to try on police uniform and sit in a police car or van (whatever your age)!
“If you have an issue you want tackled in your community, come and tell us about it, together we hope to work with the community to make Honeywell a safer neighbourhood.”
