A YOUNGSTER from Kexborough has raised more than £1,500 for a cancer charity after running 100 miles in December - after finding out one of his school friends had been diagnosed with the illness.
Reggie Cartwright, ten, raised the funds for Children with Cancer UK - an organisation dedicated to raising money for research and providing care for children with cancer and their families.
His dad, 38-year-old Rob Cartwright, said he couldn’t be any prouder of his son.
He said: “He’s done a few different things for charity in the past.
“This year he wanted to do something for Children with Cancer UK because he found out that one of his school friends had cancer.
“He decided that he was going to run 100 miles in December - it’s a big task for someone who’s only ten.
“He’s done it and managed to raise just over £1,500 - I’m so proud of him.”
