A GROUP of Barnsley Hospital workers who care for people who need extra support have received an award by the trust.
Staff at the Acorn Rehabilitation Unit, who support residents who need intermediate can that cannot be provided in their own homes, received the ‘Brilliant Award’ last week.
A spokesperson for the hospital said: “The care support workers are the backbone of the Acorn Unit.
“They are under-recognised and work hard at maintaining patient safety and care often under times of staff shortages and high acuity on the unit.
“They are skilful doing tasks such as venepuncture and bladder scans.
“They maintain the bedside documentation to a high standard keeping the registered nurses informed at all times.
“They all promote trust values and work well as a team.”
