RESIDENTS from two care homes enjoyed charity coffee mornings recently in honour of a former member of staff.
Thornhill House in Darfield and Highstone Mews in the town centre – both managed by Strong Life Care – raised a total of £680 for Macmillan Cancer Support on the day.
The homes are currently attempting to raise £3,000 for the charity after care assistant Heather Turton, who had worked with them for 20 years, lost her life to pancreatic cancer.
So far they have raised £2,135 over the course of this year, with plenty more fundraising expected to come.
Christian Mason, manager at Thornhill House, said: “Heather was such a bubbly lady.
“All the families and residents baked – it turned out really well and was nice to see so many people.”
