TOBY Tyke made a special visit to the Town Hall last week as part of a day of free football fun.
Joining him were members of Barnsley FC Community Trust, guiding children through a series of football themed activities.
James Cook, head of participation and inclusion, said: “We’re promoting the services and activities we do, such as fit and fed for people who are on free school meals, adult mental health and fitness courses we do and different community programmes and activities we’re doing.
“We’ve had some good feedback from parents, they’ve said it’s good to have activities that are free so they’re not having to pay an arm and a leg.”
Deputy leader of Barnsley Council Caroline Makinson added: “It was fantastic to see the children with their parents and carers in front of the Town Hall today, enjoying the summer sports activities which have been organised in partnership with Barnsley FC Community Trust.”
