MORE than 22,000 people were waiting for routine treatment at Barnsley Hospital in January, latest figures have revealed.
NHS England figures show 22,103 patients were waiting for non-urgent elective operations or treatment at the Gawber Road site at the end of January – up from 21,821 in December, but a decrease on 22,174 in January 2024.
Of those, 92 had been waiting for longer than a year.
The median waiting time from referral to treatment at Barnsley Hospital was 11 weeks at the end of January – the same as in December.
At Barnsley Hospital, 4,542 patients were waiting for one of 11 standard tests, such as an MRI scan, non-obstetric ultrasound or gastroscopy at this time. Of them, 193 had been waiting for at least six weeks.
