MORE than 1,000 secondary school pupils from across Barnsley were educated on the potential dangers of vapes this week.

Officers from the Barnsley West Neighbourhood Policing Team were out and about on Wednesday, providing a series of talks to youngsters.

The presentations were given in partnership with Waythrough – Barnsley’s children and young people’s drug and alcohol service.

A spokesperson for the force said: “It is incredibly important we educate our young people on the dangers of using illegal substances.

“Vapes containing illegal drugs are now widely available and the presentations are being given to highlight these dangers.

“People using vapes are inhaling unknown and sometimes illegal substances.”
