STAFF and students at Barnsley College have raised over £25,000 for charity in the last year.

Between September and July, £25,392.24 was raised through various events like sponsored walks, charity DVDs and bush tucker trials.

The 39 charities who benefitted from the fundraising efforts of the College include, Help for Heroes, YMCA – Barnsley Radio, Cancer Research and Albert’s Horse Sanctuary.

Of the 68 fundraising activities organised during this time, one of the biggest donations of the year for local charities came from a Christmas Carol Concert in aid of Barnsley Hospice. The event which was open to the public saw the College collaborate with the Barnsley Community Choir to raise over £1000.
