The family of a teenager who died after being burned at a party of the weekend have spoken of their loss.

Steven Simpson, 18, was at a party on Pleasant View, Cudworth when he sustained significant burns on his body. He died on Sunday evening.

Steven's family said: "Steven had just turned 18 and was just starting out in life. Kevin and Jackie, Steven's father and Stepmother and Bernadette his mother can not describe the loss they all feel at this time. Steven was a very caring and lovely young man and will be missed by everyone that knows him."

Police are now awaiting results from the post mortem and say they expect to release further information from his family tomorrow.

Six people were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder on Saturday; three men, aged between 19-years-old and 39-years-old and three teenagers aged between 16-years-old and 17-years-old, all from Barnsley.

The 16-year-old female was released due to insufficient evidence and the remaining five people were bailed.
