A BARNSLEY man has been jailed for 18 years for subjecting a girl to a series of horrific sex attacks - that began when she was just seven years old.
Paul Fury, of Pickup Crescent, Wombwell, appeared before Sheffield Crown Court on February 5 to receive his sentence after being found guilty of 13 non-recent offences including rape, gross indecency and inciting a female aged between 13 and 15 to engage in sexual activity.
The jury heard how Fury subjected the girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, to nearly a decade of sexual abuse from when she was around seven-years-old.
In March 2015 his victim, now an adult, called police and told them about the abuse.
Detective Constable Liz Portman said: “Fury refused to accept his guilt and put his victim through a trial process, where his horrific crimes were highlighted before the courts.”
