CRIME bosses have urged people to be careful about what they share on social media - as it could encourage stalkers.
Police and Crime Commissioner Dr Alan Billings said he thinks stalking is an under-reported crime in South Yorkshire - in the last year just 20 incidents have been reported.
He said: “Anyone who suspects they are being stalked should be extremely careful what they put on social media accounts as stalkers may use this information to find out about their interests, family, school or place of work and even their plans for the evening."
He said anyone who feels threatened should call police on 101 (999 if it is an immediate danger.)
