A PRE-SCHOOL deemed inadequate just six months ago has made a remarkable turnaround, according to Ofsted.

Barugh Green Pre-School's new 'good' rating signals a huge turnaround following a visit by Ofsted last month after it was found to be inadequate last September.

The latest report said the pre-school, on Barugh Green Road, is good at meeting the needs of its children and contributing to their wellbeing. It also has good leadership and management.

"Children are able to make choices about about their activities," the report states. "In addition, they are encouraged to put on their own coats and shoes, pour their own drinks and help themselves to snack.

"Children are effectively safeguarded because robust systems are in place to ensure all staff have a secure knowledge and understanding of child protection procedures, so they can act appropriately to safeguard children."
