A MOTORIST has called on the council to sort Barnsley's pothole problem - after one left her with a £240 bill.
Diane Houltby was travelling on Aldham House Lane when the incident happened.
"It's behind a speed bump - it was too late by the time I'd spotted it," Diane said. "It's the second time it's happened to me this year. The council need to sort the roads."
The pothole ruined one of Diane's wheels and was too badly damaged to be refurbished - resulting in a cost of £237.58 to get a replacement from Ford.
A council spokesperson said: "The council carry out inspections of roads in line with its inspection and maintenance programme.
"Any claim submitted to the council will be investigated and assessed on an individual basis. Where the council has a defence under Section 58 of the Highways Act, no compensation will be paid."
