STAGECOACH has announced a major shake-up of its services along a busy Barnsley bus corridor. Here's your guide on what's changing.
The operator is introducing a number of changes on the Pontefract Road corridor to improve punctuality and reliability.
The changes, which come into effect from the start of September, will see Stagecoach buses run along Pontefract Road through Lundwood every five minutes during Monday to Saturday daytimes.
Service 32, which runs from Barnsley to Crown Avenue, Cudworth, will run every 10 minutes during Monday to Saturday daytimes.
Buses to Grimethorpe will also be changed to run every 10 minutes during Monday to Saturday daytimes and the frequency of buses to Brierley will be improved.
The plans include a new hourly link from Barnsley to Goldthorpe via Grimethorpe and the ASOS clothing warehouse.
There will also be an increase in the number of buses serving Nancy Crescent and ASOS. Some buses will run via Cudworth bypass offering faster, more direct links.
Plans are also in place for a new night bus to Grimethorpe and Brierley on Saturday nights/Sunday mornings.
John Young, acting commercial director at Stagecoach Yorkshire, said: "This is a really positive development for all our Pontefract Road customers.
"These changes have been developed from feedback from our customers and staff and will ensure that our network of services is attractive to both current and potential new users."
