A BURLESQUE group formed out of a shared love of dancing are hosting their first showcase – with all profits raised going to Barnsley Hospice.

Lace Fatale Burlesque and Cabaret was founded by like-minded dancers who wanted to get together and choreograph their own shows.

Now, they’re organising their first showcase to take place on November 23 at the Trades Club on Racecommon Road in town, which they are using as an opportunity to raise funds for the hospice.

Member Laura Stretton said: “We’ve all done some kind of burlesque dancing before.

“So we decided to put together a non-profit group to share our love of dancing.

“We’ve got members from their early 20s all the way to their late 50s – we’re all from different walks of life.

“Our first showcase has been organised in aid of the hospice – we’ve got a couple of people from the hospice coming, they’ve all been so supportive.”

On top of ticket sales, the group will be hosting a raffle to raise funds – though Laura admits the amount of prizes are ‘growing at an alarming rate’.

“At this rate we’ll be picking out tickets all night,” she added.

“All the money’s going to the hospice, it’s just for charity.

“We all know about how many millions of pounds it takes to keep the hospice running and everyone knows someone who’s had to use their services.

“It’s something we can all connect to.”
