THE Darfield Summer Gala took place on Tuesday with residents given the chance to take part in a number of activities.
From an assault course to dance and DJ sessions, locals flocked to Darfield Park, on Church Street.
Coun Kevin Osborne, who represents the area, said: “As a member of Darfield Ward Alliance we’ve been planning this for months.
"Opened by Ian McMillan and attended by Mr and Madam Mayor it was a brilliant day, helped especially by the fine weather.
"Thank you to all those who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make this all possible but particular mention must go to Clare Archer, Barnsley Council’s community development officer – she goes above and beyond her job description to make our community a good community.”
