A DRUG addict has been jailed for almost a year for burgling a pub.
Paul Blackshaw, 34, of Worsbrough Road, Blacker Hill, was seen removing putty from a window frame at The Clothier's Arms in Elsecar, Barnsley Magistrates' Court was told.
Jayne Ormrod, prosecuting, said the people who run the pub live elsewhere when it is not open. She said it was not known if anything was stolen but a torch was found at the scene.
Later, Blackshaw broke into a shop about 20 yards from the pub and stole three loaves of bread, milk, a newspaper and a magazine.
Julian Brook, defending, added: "Mr Blackshaw is tired of taking drugs. He has a lot of problems and needs a lot of help to deal with them."
Blackshaw was convicted of the burglary and theft after not turning up for a trial. He admitted breaching the terms of a suspended prison sentence.
He was ordered to pay an £80 victim surcharge when he is released from jail,.
