BARNSLEY children will be hit by a rise in their bus fares as the council continues its plan to phase out the Mi Card scheme.
Users' bus fares increase from 40p to 50p from May 24. It follows a 10p increase last year, and likely similar increases in the coming years.
Council leader Sir Steve Houghton said: "It's not something we want to do, but given the financial position the council is facing it's unavoidable."
The latest increase will save the council £200,000 a year as part of its ongoing budget cuts.
