TONNES of rubbish and a truckload of tyres were collected as part of a clampdown on litter in Barnsley.
The Forestry Commission, Barnsley Council and BBC Radio Sheffield ran a litter pick based from the Woodhead Lane car park in Wombwell last weekend.
Presenter Toby Foster, alongside his Radio Sheffield breakfast team, recruited volunteers and broadcasted live from the event.
He said: "We've been talking about fly-tipping on the show and the phones have just been melting from the response of listeners. There is a lot of anger about the people who litter our countryside.
"The Forestry Commission and Barnsley Council were very supportive in providing equipment and vans to to take the litter away, but the biggest thanks goes to our amazing listeners who turned up and got their hands dirty."
