AN elderly Barnsley woman is in hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car near the town centre.

The incident took place on the A628 Westway, close to the junction with New Street, at around 7.15am on November 13.

A 40-year-old woman from Barnsley was driving a silver Renault Clio which was in collision with the 74-year-old female pedestrian.

The pensioner was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
