A BARNSLEY primary school is celebrating after Ofsted inspectors declared it 'good' in every area of its work.

Children at Royston's Meadstead Primary Academy achieve particularly well in reading, writing and mathematics.

The quality of teaching is good, teaching assistants make a positive contribution to pupils' learning and the headteacher and her deputy provide 'ambitious and purposeful leadership'.

Head Wendy Baxter said: "The entire team have worked very hard to raise standards and ensure that our children get the best education possible.

"This is well-deserved for them. Of course we're now on our journey to become outstanding."
