A NEW Tesco superstore opens in Barnsley next week.
The 28,000sq ft store on Market Street, Hoyland, opens to the public at 8am on September 18 after a £7.5 million build.
Permission for the store was granted in July 2011 and workers started clearing the site in February 2012, but then arguments over a pedestrian crossing on Wombwell Road caused delays.
The existing Tesco Express on West Street, Hoyland, will close when the new superstore opens.
Manager Matthew Pickthall said: "We wanted to ensure that we recruited the best team possible for our new store in Hoyland so we spent a lot of time working with the local community to fill the new roles."
