A CARE home has earned a national award that celebrates its exceptional palliative and end-of-life care.

The team at Dearnevale Care Home in Grimethorpe - which provides care for people with neuro-disabilities like Huntington’s disease, mental health issues and physical disabilities - has been the recipient of the Gold Standard Framework Quality Hallmark Award.

They have previously been accredited by the national charity Huntington’s Disease Association as part of their ‘quality assured’ scheme and maintain an outstanding CQC (Care Quality Commission) rating.

To achieve their latest award, the team underwent a thorough assessment of their work and achieved a score of 71 out of 75, reflecting their dedication to delivering care for people living with degenerative illnesses and those at the end of their lives.

Helen McGowan, home manager at Dearnevale, said: “We are incredibly honoured to have achieved this award and be acknowledged as one of the top care homes in the country.

“It reflects our commitment to providing the best possible care to our residents.

“This award is not just a recognition of our efforts, but a testament to the dedication and heart that each member of our team brings every day.

“We’re proud to be recognised for making a positive difference in the lives of those we care for.”
