BARNSLEY Council is warning residents to beware of a new parking scam.
A council spokesperson said: “We have been made aware of a new parking scam that is being circulated affecting some residents in Barnsley.
“If you receive a text message advising you to pay for a parking penalty charge notice, please note we would never ask residents to pay a fine this way.
“Please remember to stay vigilant and always check suspicious contacts including checking for spelling errors.”
